B-52s!

The Jazz Fest closed with the B-52s on Monday night. They gave a free outdoor show downtown, and it was perfect: The band had a party up there, playing all their classics on a warm, clear night. The sound was surprisingly good, the light show was funky (involving entire buildings . . .), and it was capped off with fireworks. It was better than a lot of concerts I've paid for. These guys still have It, whatever It is. What an awesome way to end a vacation! (Technically, it was a day after I resumed work, but it was cool enough to reach back in time – in several ways, really.)

Interesting tidbit: The festival says the show drew over 100,000 people. That's the biggest show crowd I've ever been in.

When trying to wrap my brain around large numbers of people, I tend to use Halifaxes as a unit. That was a third of a Halifax! :-D

Indeed, although it certainly didn't look quite that huge. I suspect that the festival was counting people lurking on nearby streets, atop buildings, etc., and not merely those in the square.
