Another week in the life of GURPS

This week is named Yuko. The news:

• PK ([livejournal.com profile] peekitty) continues to edit GURPS Martial Arts: Technical Grappling, by Doug Cole ([livejournal.com profile] douglascole). He had to slow down due to illness, so why not take a moment to wish him well?

• My edit of the Discworld RPG, by Phil Masters ([livejournal.com profile] phil_masters), is also rolling along. I'm at 42.9% by word count, past the character-creation rules, and into the combat system . . . wherein many mimes are slaughtered as examples.

• The final draft of GURPS Banestorm: Martial Arts, by David T. Moore, arrived in house.

• The peer review of GURPS Underground Adventures, by Bill Stoddard ([livejournal.com profile] whswhs), is just about over. Bill will probably start final-draft revisions next week.

When you say combat system... The new edition is still GURPS based isn't it?

The new edition will be GURPS-based but not a GURPS supplement. It will be a standalone, completely self-contained RPG that happens to use GURPS as its "engine." Thus, it needs a combat system. Since we must fit in a setting, Disc-specific characters and items, and rules supporting the Disc's unique take on magic and such, there's only so much room for combat rules, so said combat system is simplified and optimized for the sort of fighting that's liable to happen on the Disc. Hope that helps!

Thanks! Sounds good to me :)
