There are few pleasures so keen as holding a new book with one's name on the cover. It combines the joy of having created something with the joy of having received a gift made by someone else.
And in this case, my copy arrived more than a month before release, so it was a genuine surprise . . . and the night before Halloween, to boot. All that made it that much cooler.
