Another week in the life of GURPS

And so we come to the first GURPS report of 2009:

• We uploaded David Pulver's GURPS Mass Combat. It's crunchy GURPS – that is, it isn't in any sense systemless or a standalone war game – but if you run GURPS, and if you have skirmishes, battles, or wars, then you need this! I can hardly wait to use it in my campaign.

• We uploaded GURPS Ultra-Lite. This is one of those freebies I've been hinting at. It's less an intro to GURPS than a mini-game of its own. Check it out . . . the price is right!

• We reviewed rough PDFs of the other two promo items I keep mentioning. One should be ready by next week; the other, by mid-February.

• We reviewed a rough PDF of the next volume in the GURPS Locations series, bringing it a step closer to reality.

• In GURPS Spaceships news, both GURPS Spaceships 3 and GURPS Spaceships 4 moved from "final draft" to "editing."

• GURPS Martial Arts: Gladiators, from Volker Bach and Peter Dell'Orto ([info]peterdellorto), has been revised for playtest, which should start in the not-too-distant future.

• Obligatory workaday incremental progress report: Significant progress has been made on GURPS Low-Tech. I fully expect to see a first draft in late February.

Oook ook. I have to make sure my Pyramid subscription is paid up, so I can have a shot at applying. This one could really be good; the last one was, and HT surpassed the old one, as did MA.

Playtesting isn't tied to Pyramid anymore. It requires a minimum amount of e23 purchases over the preceding year.

...though maintaining a Pyramid subscription would more than fulfill that requirement. Then again, so would the regular purchase of the many fine, low-calorie, hypo-allergenic GURPS products available through e23 [1]. Mine, for example.

Keeping a current Pyramid subscription is a simple way to keep your "purchased" total up at or above the magic number :D

I tend to think of it as a way to avoid forgetting, anyway.

I continue to find GURPS Ultra-Lite adorable and intriguing. While saying it's my favorite release of the year isn't really saying much, at this date, it's my favorite GURPS release overall in quite some time. Especially if I'm measuring them by how much they make me want to go run a game myself.
