CIA Man

While I like movies, I rarely go on about them . . . but if you haven't seen Burn After Reading (Coen Bros., 2008), you might want to check it out. It's truly mental. Don't let the rather disconnected start throw you off; it all makes sense in the end. Actually, it makes no sense, but at the end, at least you know why. If that isn't enough of a reason to see it: It has George Clooney, John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, Brad Pitt, and Tilda Swinton, all of whom I regard as brilliant.

In addition to the start, I found the ending a bit unsatisfying, as if the Coens realized they had three minutes of film left and had to wrap things up with some quick exposition (that is, the story completes in a satisfactory fashion, but the execution was lacking). But, certainly, the bulk of the movie is wildly entertaining, and it made perfect sense once I realized that all the characters were idiots.

Yes, one thing I really liked about that movie is how each character is such an idiot. Often in Hollywood movies it seems that any average Joe always knows how to act in every situation. In this movie, the characters are clearly out of their league.
