Another week in the life of GURPS

Man, this seemed like a . . . lengthy week. That probably had something to do with Bonnie being away, or perhaps with the weather being kind of nice (well, off and on). But GURPS happened:

• We released the PDF version of Lois McMaster Bujold's Vorkosigan Saga Sourcebook and Roleplaying Game, affectionately known as GURPS Vorkosigan. Yes, at last. The hardback will follow later this year. If you love the series, then I think you'll really, really like this item.

• We reviewed the rough PDF of GURPS Martial Arts: Gladiators, by Volker Bach and Peter Dell'Orto ([info]peterdellorto). This is extremely cool stuff, and looking very good. If you use Rome in your campaign even without gladiators, or vice versa, you'll want this one.

• We banged on the errata for the softcover reprint of David Pulver's GURPS Ultra-Tech. Thanks to all the gamers who helped with that! The new version should be out this summer, if all goes well.

• The playtest of GURPS Low-Tech and GURPS Low-Tech Companion 1-3 ends on Monday, June 15. We're at 4,882 posts, plus or minus. Yikes!

• The playtest of GURPS Gun Fu – the latest by S.A. Fisher, Hans-Christian Vortisch, and y.t. – starts on Monday, June 15. Coincidence? I think not. Anyway, we spent a fair bit of time getting that ready this week.

• I found a few more hours to work on my short PDF. It's up to 11,000 words, and sufficiently healthy that I'll reveal that it's for GURPS Action.

Yay Action!

Love the series, so when the new book comes out I'll have to pick it up. Are you to the point where you can reveal the topic of the action book, or do we need to wait until it is further along?

I'll say this, though...while the LT material is cool, the four books in one playtest thing is NO FUN. Esp with the amount of revision, it's hard to make things coherent when not only might a rule/paragraph in one book change, but it must be made coherent with supporting rules elsewhere.

Granted, THAT'S why you're doing all four at once, but it definitely makes it an endurance run.

For a work of this length, I might periodically update the online manuscript, as the authors make changes. A bit more work, but some of those who got to making posts late in the time period were effectively working from an obsolete draft.

And BTW...NICE work on GF. Read the whole thing, and I have like THREE comments, none of them major.
