Another week in the life of GURPS

"Another week, another geek," or something along those lines. What's going on in the wide world o' GURPS? This stuff:

• We released Pyramid #3/8: Cliffhangers. It's a swell issue that delivers a couple of keen pulp adventures, so I hope all the folks who keep demanding adventures buy it to encourage us! It also contains guidelines on sending GURPS Action back to the pulp era, written by y.t.

• We reviewed a rough PDF of Pyramid #3/9: Space Opera. This starkly astounding volume is just the thing for evil masterminds in the market for doomsday weapons, and also the home of the crunch-tastic Designer's Notes for GURPS Psionic Powers, by [info]peekitty.

• The GURPS Low-Tech/GURPSLow-Tech Companion 1-3 playtest continues to clatter along. At 5,724 posts, it's poised to set a new record.

• The GURPS Gun Fu playtest started this week and is going well. We're currently at 539 posts (80 of them mine, I'll admit).

• Ken Hite ([info]princeofcairo) submitted the revised first draft of GURPS Horror. Which means that the playtest of this, too, will soon come to pass.

• I completed my rough draft of that little GURPS Action item I was working on. It's at around 16,000 words and we'd prefer more like 13,500 words, so I'll probably spend some time tightening it up next week, after which I'll hint at the contents.

A Word on Summer Absences

While I have your attention, I'll warn of two absences on the part of y.t. in the coming months, both of them loosely related to work:

• I will be away from June 27 to July 5. This is related to SJ Games giving staff from June 29 to July 3 off. So don't expect a report on July 3!

• I will be away from July 30 to August 5. This is related to me attending Constitution in a semi-official capacity as GURPS Line Editor. So don't expect a report on July 31, either (although if you're in Cambridge at the time, I suppose you could always ask questions in person!).

And we can all use the time off!

I suspect I'm not the only person who thought the time alloted to the Low Tech playtest was a tad optimistic. Considering the lengths folks are going to in actually real-life testing some things for us, though, I think we're making good use of the extra time :D

I think we need a short article for the website or Pyramid regarding some of the things done in the name of Low Tech after it all wraps up though :D
