Pan-galactic!

So Bonnie has been after me to do pan-galactic gargle blasters. I will not stoop to linkage to explain this. If you have no idea what a PGGB is, you are culturally deprived and possibly dangerous.

Anyway, it turns out that there are a jillion recipes for such out there in both Internet-land and bartending guides. I won't pretend to have tried them all. But I will say this: If you are after a brilliant – indeed, fluorescent green – drink with a fair mix of sweet and tart, you could do worse than to mix equal parts vodka, rum (white rum, preferably rhum blanc agricole or cachaça), and Midori; toss in a couple of dashes of fresh lime juice; shake with ice; pour into martini glasses; and top up with Sprite (we used Sprite Zero). It's vivid . . . it's green . . . it's a little fizzy . . . it's actually pretty good.

That is all.

I always feel really, really sad when I have to explain what one is. :( I also just decided that I need to make one at some point. Although a shot version sounds really fun.

Hmm, a shot version could work. The vodka-rum-Midori-sour concoction would be as easy to put in a shotglass as in a martini glass. It's mostly about the green, after all! But fizzy mixers tend not to be part of shots, so I'm not sure whether it would be quite the same without the Sprite. Maybe I'll try one in the name of Science!
