The good folks at Ninja vs Pirates interviewed me about GURPS (with a focus on GURPS Action) some time back. The first of two parts of the podcast is now up here. I'm from Michigan. I don't hear a big difference. Although when I go to Toronto, I'm told my American accent is very pronounced.

I gather that accents are 50% in the hearing – subtle cues trigger associations, and the result is that the listener hears more what he expects to hear than the actual signal. I don't pretend to understand this! However, I've been taken for an American, an Aussie, and a Brit, despite being very Canadian . . . and I've also been told that I have German, French, and Spanish accents. Strangely, I've never had anyone mention the one distinctive accent I actually possess: that of a Maritimer, which is to say a person from New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island.
