Take the cold with the hot

For those who interact with me primarily via the net: I've had quite the nasty cold since this past weekend. It has become annoying enough that I've gone from "getting very little work done and feeling slightly crappy" to "getting no work done and taking a day off to get better." This means that I'm running behind on . . . well, pretty much everything that I've promised to do, from SJ Games work to my final campaign recap to simply answering my e-mail. Sorry about that!

On the bright side, it has been nice and warm here in Montréal this week. I took the screenshot to the right on Monday, mostly to give me something with which to pester my coworkers in Texas. Hey, when you're feeling crummy, you take pleasure in the small things.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure that this is a cold and not the dreaded swine flu. I can't believe how many people won't believe me when I say that, though. Have we become that alarmist and obsessed with disaster? Geez. I can't promise that it isn't the zombie plague, though. I do feel rather undead . . .

Is this one of those colds that drains IQ points? When I think about how a cold makes me feel I understand the ancient Greek concept of the "phlegmatic temperament" better. . . .

I certainly don't feel smart. I'm taking a day off work in part to sleep so that I'll get better (which is all that I did between that post and this reply) and in part because I don't dare do work while I feel this way, as I know I'll do a lousy job of it. It feels as if the crud in my head is all sitting between my mind and the world outside.
