Infernal falernum!
29 Aug 2008 19:46Yes, I'm thinking about mixed drinks again. No, I'm not a lush or a lounge lizard. This rut has to do with being the designated bartender at a party tomorrow.
Anyway, what is the deal with falernum being so deucedly hard to find? I like tiki drinks as much as the next guy -- maybe more -- but my lack of falernum puts the kibosh on making them. I naively thought we could pick it up at the local imports shop, liquor store . . . somewhere. But my dearest Bonnie spent all day looking, and couldn't find it. I realize that I can get it online, and I have recipes, but neither will help me tomorrow. Bother!
It's hard to believe that falernum simply doesn't exist in a city like Montréal. Does anybody -- preferably a local -- have a tip for me beyond "order it online and hope the bottle doesn't break"? Such information won't help me this weekend. If I get a reply at all, it might be next year. But any help would be appreciated.
