Morning glories
5 Sep 2008 15:20Then there was my little cat, Zephyra, showing us that even asphalt has its uses.
Yesterday, Steven Marsh sent me the first set of "playtest comments" -- more like editorial comments -- on GURPS Action 2: Exploits. He actually requested more detail in several places, so I guess the length didn't bother him. Phew! Anyway, I sat down for a few hours this evening and revised the ms. I hope that people will be able to buy, download, and read the thing within the month. We'll see.
Another week, another GURPS. Or something like that. The highlights:
• I finished my review of GURPS Abydos. Okay, that's just evil! I especially liked the one about this guy, his wife, her lover, the zombie, and the pack of dogs. "Quietly vengeful." Heh.
• As noted in my last post (I'm trying to keep my writing projects separate from GURPS in general, because I have friends who are interested in one or the other, but not both), I made the first round of revisions to GURPS Action 2: Exploits, bringing it that much closer to being published.
• The GURPS Mass Combat playtest is in full swing and looking good. I'm pretty much the anti-wargamer, but I find myself suggesting and writing rules to help David out. Army killin' is addictive.
Rant:
• I wish people would stop with the "Where's GURPS Vehicle Design?" Yes, we know it's years late! Needless to say, those of us who earn our living writing, editing, and developing GURPS books are far more annoyed at and affected by the situation than even the most rabid fan who has spent $0 and no hours on the project. We've been open about the delays and admitted that they're our fault, so being nudged anyway sets my teeth on edge. I'm tempted to circular-file the project out of spite some days, but I'd never do that to David.
