More holiday fun
22 Dec 2008 00:14Tonight we continued the "good friends and good food" theme. My old pal of 18 years, B., his wife, T., and their six-year-old son, D. braved the snow between Ottawa and Montréal to visit for a couple of days. Tonight we had everybody over to catch up and have dinner.
This time we opened with carrot soup and parmesan garlic bread. Then we served ossobuco alla milanese (with the obligatory gremolata and not-so-traditional fleur de sel) alongside a spinach risotto, accompanied by rapini and artichokes. Our guests weren't big wine drinkers, so we kept it brief and classic: a lovely Barolo (Pio Cesare, Barolo 1996), which was perfect with the tender ossobuco. Dessert was tasty Christmas treats, including more of that yummy fruitcake.
And yes, I have been skipping lunch all weekend.
