Let's put that behind us

I went to the follow-up appointment for my dental surgery today. The dentist said that everything looked good, which means that I'm over that bloody little episode. With luck, all that surgery – four cuts and four pastes, in a total of two procedures – will give me decent results for life. Needless to say, after thousands of bucks, many days of missed work, and quite a bit of bleeding and inconvenience, that's good news.

In fact, the dentist said that everything looked unusually good, and that it had all healed up unexpectedly well. There may yet be hope for me in the super-powers department. Perhaps I have some kind of mutant healing factor. (Gaming geek digression: "It's cheaper with the 'Gums only' limitation, right?") Still, I was a little freaked when the dentist said, "We should do a bunch more grafts!" Dentist humor . . .

The good news comes at an opportune moment: B. and T. are in town this weekend, and we're going to get dim sum in the morning. It has been years since I last had dim sum. Needless to say, it's hard to chew through phoenix talons with your mouth in a mess.
