Pan-galactic!
1 Nov 2009 16:06So Bonnie has been after me to do pan-galactic gargle blasters. I will not stoop to linkage to explain this. If you have no idea what a PGGB is, you are culturally deprived and possibly dangerous.
Anyway, it turns out that there are a jillion recipes for such out there in both Internet-land and bartending guides. I won't pretend to have tried them all. But I will say this: If you are after a brilliant – indeed, fluorescent green – drink with a fair mix of sweet and tart, you could do worse than to mix equal parts vodka, rum (white rum, preferably rhum blanc agricole or cachaça), and Midori; toss in a couple of dashes of fresh lime juice; shake with ice; pour into martini glasses; and top up with Sprite (we used Sprite Zero). It's vivid . . . it's green . . . it's a little fizzy . . . it's actually pretty good.
That is all.
